The total area of the airport of Mallorca, the "Aeroport de Son Sant Joan" is 6.3 km ². The maximum capacity amounts to 25 million passengers per year. Up to 18,000 passengers per hour respectively 400.000 processed per day. In May 2010 a new passenger handling area will open, scheduled is to expand the capacity of the airport to 32 million passengers in 2010 and 38 million passengers until 2015.

The relatively short flight times to Mallorca are from Germany and England approx. 2 hours, approx. approx. 3 hours from Scandinavia and from Moscow approx. 4 hours.
